Constraints

Example Personal Constraint

This period has been particularly challenging for me as working as a freelance Doctor I noticed early on that work was slowly drying  up . The sense of isolation that developed  in  that first month  to  6 weeks was a real challenge.

I caught Covid in the first month of the pandemic. This was not a good experience for me and professionally it set me back in terms of keeping abreast of all of the guidance that was being issued at the time, and I seemed to be always playing catchup when I went back to work.

Example Practice Constraint

Staff sickness and self-isolation has meant that at times we have been operating on a skeleton staff which has impinged on doing anything other  than surviving.

We are too small to effectively manage different patient areas and we are worried that this will influence our ability to provide services when  things open up.

Example Service Constraint

The lack of community staff such as health visitors closure of dentists and opticians has meant we have increased demand when we are already snowed under.

Failure to accept referrals has meant constant chasing to ensure patients aren’t forgotten about and has led to extra recurrent discussions with patients about their condition.
