Reporting

Think about who is going to read your report and gear the content and style accordingly. Think about what are you trying to achieve – e.g. if you need to persuade people of the need for action, make sure your report is factual and objective and that your argument is persuasively framed but soundly based in the measurements you have made.

Make it look professional.

  • Ensure logical flow to it and that it is easily read and understood.
  • Write simply without over-elaboration. An audit report should be largely descriptive of the process and contain representations of the data in a clear concise format.
  • Ensure that when you are using abbreviations and acronyms you write these out in full in the first instance.
  • Ask someone else to proof read your report before you distribute it.

Remember to compare performance against the criteria and standards agreed at the start of the audit.
