Non USC referral of pre-cancerous and cancerious skin lesions

The following are a list of cancerous and pre-cancerous skin lesions which should be referred as less urgent and not under the USC as per NICE guidelines;

  1. Basal cell carcinoma
  2. Actinic Keratoses
  3. Bowens disease
  4. High risk individuals; People with the following characteristics have a 10-fold increased likelihood of melanoma, >100moles, red hair, atypical moles, >2 first degree family members with diagnosed melanoma. They should have a routine referral for dermatology assessment, risk estimation and sun prevention education. Often baseline photography is used to monitor over the years. Self-examination techniques are useful too. (9)
